Just in case it escaped your attention, it’s that time of year again. Yes, it’s when I get the traditional mission, some say an impossible one, of selecting Twelve of my “best” shots from the past year. Just like “Mission Impossible” I have to accept, my selection will self destruct in 5 seconds and the photography authorities will deny any knowledge of my actions. Let’s be honest, you’d need to be a secret agent to crack and decipher the Harper Archives. Using what I laughingly call a ‘filing system’ is akin to finding which bulb has blown from a string of 20,000 Christmas lights and then attempting to untangle them. Anyway, the selection has been made. I’ve probably missed a few and it could blow up at any second, in which case another completely different set could be used.
I never can make my mind up and this year is no different. Once picked I take another look through, change three or four, then continue with that process endlessly until eventually enough is enough. Actually there were a core of half a dozen that kept appearing and so I’m reasonably happy, the others are interchangeable, merely fillers. In all fairness Six would be enough for twelve months work and as photographers we know that if we can get two good shots a year we’re doing extraordinarily well. Here goes, all with a Street mindset:
…and there you have it. Actually, shall I just change a couple of them a moment? Leave it Harper! All that remains for me to do is thank you for your kind support once again this year. It’s hugely appreciated and never ceases to amaze me that you keep coming back. I wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year…2022 will be great, right?
As always my sincere thanks go to anyone taking the time to read this blog.
