Twelve what? Days of Christmas, Apostles (or were there Ten, Lord knows!), Twelve months of the year? Getting close, this is the time where we might reflect on the past Twelve months work and attempt to select Twelve of our best photographs. Now, I'm not much of a fan of my own work therefore find it extremely awkward and painful to select any at all and yet I think it's a good exercise. Ansel Adams once said “12 significant pictures a year is good”, so let's see if I can do it.
I decided not to even try picking Wedding, Family, Portraits or shots of my Children, far too complicated. Some of those have already been curated and selected by websites such as Leica Fotografie International (in their "Master Shot" Section) or The Leica Meet (in their "Selection of Excellence"). Actually some from this blog have also already been chosen. I'm always extremely honoured and absolutely delighted that a curator has picked one of mine, my only problem is that when I look at the work from others that are also included I somehow feel that my photos aren't anywhere near good enough, they stand out like a sore thumb. Oh well, that probably says more about me as a person than anything else. I took the view that as this blog is partially about my efforts at Street/Life Photography it is in this genre that I'll concentrate upon and of course they'll need to have been included in The LeicaBiker Blog.
Okay, here goes. No titles, my twelve best LeicaBiker Street/Life Photographs from 2017....hold it, I'd just like to quickly point out that my filing system is hopeless so I may have missed, lost or totally forgotten about a few...anyway -
Believe me when I tell you that it was torture picking those. In reality I only like a couple of them. They're not in any particular order, most are there because I enjoyed taking them at the time, the process was the most important part to me not necessarily the end result because I already had a good idea what they'd look like printed or presented online as I framed them in the viewfinder. Please remember that you should click on an image to enlarge and see the full picture (so to speak).
That's it for 2017, a great year; I've enjoyed the experiment with this blog that I began back in January. It's helped me enormously with my photography no matter how much I may have whined about lack of inspiration etc. The BMW 1200 GSA is running well, so far it has covered almost 6,000 miles, you might remember that I changed to a newer motorbike to coincide with the launch of LeicaBiker. The Leica M is also running well and so it should, I wouldn't expect it not to. As a side note I've followed my own advice (which usually isn't any good) and haven't spent one penny on any photographic equipment this year.
My sincere thanks to anyone who has taken time to drop by during 2017. All that remains for me to say is I hope you have a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Keep Well and Keep Clicking.
All images can be opened by clicking on the thumbnails and are taken using a Leica M with a Summicron 35mm, Summicron 90mm or 50mm Noctilux lens fitted.
