That daunting task has arrived, it’s traditional now and so it has to be done…hang on… I’m not talking about spending Christmas with relatives, writing cards (Sam does that), wrapping presents (Sam does that), thinking of what to buy (Sam does that). Actually my wife does a hell of a lot. Back to the onerous task at hand, all I have to do is pick my twelve favourite shots of the year and once again it’s Street Photography related. Quite simple really, but get me on Amazon, pass the pen and sellotape, it’ll be easier. By the way Christmas with my own relatives is something I genuinely look forward to. We stay with my sister and her husband for a couple of days down in Budleigh Salterton, Devon. They are perfect hosts, we get to walk on the beach which is wonderful during the winter and I’ll see my parents who this year turned 89 years old.
What am I wittering on about? All this is just procrastination, prevarication. I can see right through me. Dithering about, instead of making a decision. Come on John, just choose twelve Street photos. “Well it’s difficult, you see and I wrote about the curation process before so you know…”. Whatever mate, just get on with it. Now, it seems, I’ve started talking to myself!
This is about Street Photography. Weddings, Family Shoots, my own family photos aren’t included, unless they’ve been shot specifically with a Street Mindset like the opening shot above which is used as a marker on this post and therefore doesn’t count towards the ‘Twelve’. Of course, if I sat down tomorrow to do this then I’d more than likely pick totally different images. These are selected because they mean something to me, usually it’s merely the fact that I achieved what I set out to produce, could be layering, there might be a little narrative or I simply like the light. It’s not as though I’m spoilt for choice it has to be said…right, shut up John, enough, Christmas wil have gone by the time…”yes, yes, alright. Here’s Twelve Street Photographs that I like from 2019”:
